One step closer

Rodney is one step closer to his big day. Today at church he was ordained an Elder. All the Yeaman family came down from Kalama Washington for added support, which I know he really appreciated. They have been so helpful to Rod. We too are so very excited for efforts and preparation he has been putting forth, as well as his growth spiritually. Less than two weeks now he will be taking his bride to the temple to be married, and boy is the time speeding by. He plans on working up through Tuesday the 7th, then enjoying the family as they come into town one by one. We are all looking forward to that.

Celebrating the 50's

Today Grama DeRoest had a surprise 50th Birthday party for Mary. She really wanted all the DeRoest children to be together for this event, however with such a short notice the California group were unable to make it, and the few here even had a hard time getting together due to work. Those of us that were able to attend had a fun time making the best of it, which included dressing up to set the right tone,, fifties style. I think Mary enjoyed the efforts. Mom made a great dinner and we all ate too much.
No, it isn't Halloween yet. Rodney and Lauren had planned to join in on the celebration dinner, however last minute the dinner plans got pushed back, so they missed it, and went back to Kalama Washington after making a quick appearance.
I appreciated the family's participation.

Happy Birthday Miyuki!

It has been such a long time since we have heard from a missing part of this family. So many miles divide us, yet she is still thought of often, and missed, as is her sweet hubby Shinichi. We have yet to meet their little one Marin, but we look forward to someday seeing her and her hopefully growing family.
Miyuki we hope you have a wonderful Birthday and know that your Portland family is thinking of you and wishing you the very best.
Love ya lots,

Randi's Pregnant!!!

We've held off this long, but it's time to announce it to everyone. Randi is 9 weeks pregnant and feeling every minute of it! We talk about it as if there are two babies in her stomach, but there's no telling for sure... I just have a feeling.

We are extremely excited, and have patiently waited for this moment since we got married two years and nine months ago. We agreed to hold off on having children until both of us finished with our bachelor's degree. I must admit, we were both a little envious of all of our friends and family who were having children, but our sadness was suppressed at every opportunity that we had to spend time with all of your little ones. For that, I want to thank you all.

With that being said, I can't wait for the big day! It came upon us much quicker than expected. When we first moved here to Arizona, we decided to start trying, but our mindset was sometime between now (September) and December. Either way, we reached our goal and we'll have our little miracle(s) on or around April 10th. It's exciting for all I'm sure, but I haven't stopped smiling since we first found out. Randi would say the same, but her smiles of joy are frequently interrupted by pain. She is very excited as well though, and looking more beautiful every day. Even in her worst times, I'm sure she gets annoyed with me for smiling while she feels so bad, but I can't help but love this woman more as she goes through these tough times~
