A Sobering Moment of Appreciation.

Today was a day to remember the many that have passed on, and appreciate what they stood for.
Tony and I started our day by going to the cemetery first to place a marker on dads grave, then onto the Willamette National Cemetery to see the sea of flags of the many in the military that have served our country. It was a very sobering feeling to drive through, and as far as the eyes can see there are rows and rows of flags by every headstone; thousands upon thousands of flags.

When our children were younger we would go and help place the flags. Scout troops from all over the Willamette valley volunteered for that special chance, or opportunity, then come back for the special flag raising ceremony, and the honor guard salute.
I think it sank deep in their hearts, and instilled a great love for our country, as well as those that helped to protect it.

"55" years ago

This year for Tony's birthday he and I spent the weekend before at Long Beach Washington relaxing. I however forgot my camera so no photo's were taken. It was a nice getaway even though most of the time it was overcast. It didn't rain until Sunday as we were driving back to Portland. Sometimes its just nice not to have anything planned to do but relax. We walked, watched movies, played ping pong, visited with family, and loved the warm pool & hot tub.

On his actual Birthday we went to a new Resterant in Vancouver Washington called the "Grant House". It was a beautiful day, and fun evening with a wonderful man that has blessed my life for 36 years.
I love him more now than ever, and excited for the goals and direction we are working forward to together. "Happy Birthday"

Mothers Flower garden

Mother has spent this month working on her flower garden to keep her busy. This was taken on mothers day, and has doubled now. We need to figure out what craft, or activity she can do next before it gets anymore out of hand, but at least it has been very uplifting for her.
She say's she has a flower garden that never needs water, yet continues to flourish.
Pops, loves the bright colors, so this has replaced his Christmas lights that I put up at Christmas, and he didn't want them to be taken down, however the fire marshal had other instructions.
